After HSB’s first new railcar had proven its worth, HSB put out a tender for the delivery of four more railcars. The Halberstadt vehicle construction of Deutsche Bahn AG was awarded the contract.

For the hundredth anniversary of the Harzquer and Brocken Railway in March 1999, the first new railcar was delivered. The other railcars followed in the course of 1999.

Since then, these four vehicles have been used in all HSB traffic, primarily for work, school and regional traffic as well as during off-peak times.
